OsmoPrep, Visicol and Fleet Phospho Soda were over-the-counter products used before a colonoscopy. A colonoscopy is a medical procedure used to check the colon for pre-cancerous polyps with a camera. Prior to this procedure, it is necessary to clear the colon of feces so the camera can take clean pictures. In 2008, CB Fleet Company issued a Fleets Phospho Soda Recall after the FDA warned of serious kidney damage, including kidney failure, from the use of its product. Fleet Phospho-soda Recall

Following reports of kidney failure, the manufacturer C.B. Fleet announced a Fleet Phospho-soda recall in December 2008.Consumers throughout the United States who used over the over the counter bowel cleansing products including Fleet Phospho Soda (Fleet enemas) and Fleet Accu-Prep in preparation for a colonoscopy and other procedures have suffered from a serious side effect called acute phosphate nephropathy which is a kidney injury.
